Medical doctor asks Lagos State govt to punish individuals violating COVID-19 protocols.
As Nigeria continues to fight the second wave of coronavirus, most citizens persist to violate COVID-19 regulatory measures. – In Lagos, the most affected state in the federation, has been rounding up defaulters gathering in their numbers, flouting warnings from the government.
A checkup medical doctor in the state has opted that such violators to be deployed to the isolation centres.
Dr. Bella Nifemi, A medical personnel in one of the coronavirus isolation centres in Lagos has advised the state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on remedial measures aimed at curbing the nuisance of COVID-19 rules violators.
In the last few days, the Lagos state task force on coronavirus have been arresting violators of the COVID-19 guidelines in different fun spots in the commercial city. The violators were recently paraded in the premises of the Lagos state police command while the state commissioner of police assured that they will be prosecuted.
However, Dr Bella, stressed the need for such individuals to be brought to the Isolation Centres, where she and her fellow frontline workers risk their heads to save the lives of numerous Nigerians dying from coronavirus. According to her, the action would allow the violators to have a glimpse of the deadly virus and as well, appreciate their efforts.
In her own words, She tweeted: “I want the punishment for those violating Covid-19 rules, especially those arrested at clubs to be community service at IDH Yaba, let them come and be pushing oxygen cylinders into the wards and assist with moving bodies to the morgue.
They will see the real situation firsthand and become the preacher when they return home. Kindly put this into consideration. Thank you”.
