The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Area Command in Kano State has recently handed to the EFCC a suspect with thousands of ATM cards trying to snuggle them out of the country.
MYTECH disclosed that the suspect – Sanusi Abdullahi Labaran was caught by the customs when trying to smuggle a good number of 5, 342 ATM cards out of the country.
He was reportedly handed over to the state’s zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for more investigation and proper report.
“The suspect was apprehended at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport by Customs officers as he attempted to board an Ethiopian Airline to Dubai, United Arab Emirates” – Nasiru Ahmed, the NCS Area Comptroller, Kano and Jigawa State Command stated.
Mallam Aminu further disclosed that the suspect after being searched was found to have had in his possession 5,342 ATM cards having different names all through and all we packed in a beans bag.
“We also found seven pieces of memory cards and one SD card with him. He was handed over to the EFCC along with all the items recovered from him, including his travel documents and Dubai resident permit” – report stated.
The zonal head of the EFCC, Aliyu Mohammed, while lauding the partnership between the two agencies, commended NCS for the arrest.
Aliyu gave an assurance that the EFCC would conduct a diligent investigation to unraveling the mystery surrounding how the suspect got the ATM cards as well as his mission to Dubai.
Aliyu stated further, “The commission will leave no stone unturned in tracing the owners of the ATM cards and the reason behind the efforts he made to ship these ATM cards to Dubai”.
